Artist Bio
Paul Starling writes & records original songs. He plays: guitar, bass, drums, piano, banjo, ukulele, & anything else he can get his hands on. Known for his 60′s vibe with a modern twist, Paul Starling creates what he calls ‘nautical pop’. It is music to sail, float, skip and even dance to.
His first release in 2007, was a 100% do-it-yourself album entitled “Ghost Waltz”. The album received rave re
views and Paul began to make a name for himself in the power pop community. He then formed a band and began playing various LA & Ventura county venues. Some of these venues include: The Mint, The Joint, The Canyon Club, The Ventura Harbor, The Experimental Cafe, Genghis Cohen’s, Zoey's Cafe, and Rocks.
Following the success of his debut album, Paul’s sophomore release entitled “Doors & Windows” was placed in the top 10 albums of 2008 by the International Pop Overthrow. Paul continued to impress his audiences with his superbly written songs and engaging live shows. Thus earning him the title of ” The Prince of Nautical Rock”.
His next release was the 5 song EP "Aimed Arrows" that was placed on the top 10 EP's of the year by The International Pop Overthrow. The moody yet melody rich EP took many by surprise after Paul's previous pop albums.
And Paul Starling has only just begun. 2012 saw the release of Paul's finest full length to date, "Shipwrecked Commotion" on Tomboy & Twine Records. Rich with strong melodies and perfectly crafted instrumental tracks, Paul invites you inside his nautical world, all are welcome.
