And like these artists, whether you visit the West Los Angeles, California location or online, you will experience the shop’s well-established reputation for combining friendly, home-style service and repair expertise with hand-picked artisan instruments and cutting-edge gear. Everyone receives star treatment at Westwood Music.
Tradition that Encourages Artistry
From seasoned artist to beginning student, well-maintained, finely toned instruments and quality craftsmanship are gold to a player. Westwood Music’s founder, Hermann Walecki, the son of a Royal Cabinetmaker from England, became an expert in fine stringed instruments and opened the shop in 1947 just steps from its current location. He passed on his expertise to son Fred Walecki, who carried the torch with the same level of integrity into the guitar-driven 60s, 70s and on. “I had a lot of success and became the spot for Rock and Roll,” Fred says.
Building on Fred’s legendary talent for forging relationships with artists and builders, Westwood Music offers an excellent selection of enduring favorites like Martin to boutique, vintage and hard-to-find pieces. All instruments are maintained in top condition. If a buyer’s taste dictates an adjustment, Westwood Music’s talented repair team can accommodate it on the spot. The staff is also highly skilled at assisting with custom design needs. “If you can imagine it, we can find someone to build it,” says Kevin Page, Westwood Music’s General Manager.

The talented team at Westwood Music understands that each artist is unique; players benefit from the shop’s enduring tradition of customized service and attention to detail. Sales staff and repair technicians will spend the time needed to provide exceptional solutions to all of your musical needs.
