How does a former lead singer of the 90's pop group No Authority transform himself to the International Pop Star Ricky Rebel, who recently won Independent Artist of The Year at the 2012 RAWards? Hard work and determination. That's how. Ricky Felix Godinez has grown up from boy band teen sensation to heavy-hitting front man with his unique brand of dance-infused pop rock. While in No Authority, the group was discovered by Michael Jackson and soon after they were signed to his label with SONY Records. They recorded their first album with Grammy award-winning producer Rodney Jerkins and later released their second self-titled album under Madonna's label, Maverick Records. The band toured Europe twice, performed on numerous radio shows across the country, opened for Britney Spears, Monica, Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, Jessica Simpson, and 98 Degrees, and had a hit song on the radio called "Can I Get Your Number."
After the boy-band era came to a close, Ricky was cast as the character “Showpony” for My Chemical Romance’s album “Danger Days: True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”, which led to a spot in their pre-album videos and singles in addition to opening up for the band at their CD release party at The House of Blues in Hollywood. As a result, He grew a whole new worldwide fan base in minutes. Ricky took this opportunity to re-invent himself and a Rebel was born! Currently, Ricky and his band can be seen performing their fusion of electro-pop-rock music in the hottest venues in and around the Los Angeles area. They’re also collecting footage for their upcoming reality project being shopped by Amanda Scott (Supervising Producer at MTV Networks). Rebel wrote and produced all of the tracks off his new LP entitled “Manipulator” (available on iTunes and Amazon MP3) which includes music featured on the hit MTV animated series “Good Vibes” and on MTV.com.
