Nina Jo Smith picked up her mom's guitar at about ten years of age and taught herself to play. She kept this up for a good long while, but for twenty years after her younger brother was murdered, Nina Jo devoted herself to anti-violence work. About ten years ago, Nina Jo returned to performing. In San Francisco she unexpectedly discovered a renaissance of guitar-based songwriting and receptive audiences. Nina Jo brings the focus and passion of a martial artist to her gentle music.
