In Lara Ruggles’ imaginary world, there is a scenario in which she is approached by muggers. They are deterred by a single sentence: “Watch out – they call me pipes.” It’s true that her voice is unexpectedly powerful. At times expansive and earthy, at others raw and almost otherworldly, it showcases a rare dynamic range. Lara released her debut EP, Out of an Eggshell, in September of 2011. The Colorado Music Buzz said, “An incredible lyricist and expressive singer…Lara Ruggles as composer is fearless, taking some of her songs into a mostly unexplored, even modern classical, landscape.” Lara was a finalist in the 2012 Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest.
