Artist Bio
Singer/songwriter Kyle Jennings arrived onto the independent music scene in 2004 when his album “Shine” was released on Dark Horse Records Nashville. Out of the box Jennings music made an aggressive first impression likely due to cross-genre influences of his early youth such as Journey, Bon Jovi, and Tom Petty. A gritty mix of Americana, traditional country, and progressive alternative flares marble Jennings musical style.
Originally from Michigan; Jennings moved to Nashville to pursue music after a brief career as a semi-pro hockey player. Once seated in music city Jennings began writing and performing frequently at the local honky tonks and worked as a bartender at the Wildhorse Saloon part-time to make ends meet.
After recording his first album Jennings started touring abroad with a focus of developing as a songwriter and performer. Traveling from coast to coast and sharing stages with various acts from Hank Jr. to Styx Jennings performed a number of shows for crowds ranging from 8-80,000 and earned a reputation as a rambunctious high-energy live performer.
In 2005 Jennings songwriting was recognized worldwide when his solo-penned “Can I Run in the Dark (and Still Walk in the Light) was honored as 1 of 15 finalists in the country category of the International Songwriting Competition, a massive competition that commonly receives 15,000+ entries each year.
In 2007 Jennings turned out another project called “Long Black Cadillac”. Explosive and diverse much like the first release, his second album included a vast array of tones from his rootsy country-folk ballads to the guitar-based rock anthem title track.
When he’s not writing and performing music Jennings participates in numerous charitable organizations around the US and serves as a head coach and instructor for the Nashville Jr. Predators youth hockey development program and Hockey Dynamics skill development camp of greater Nashville.
Although recognized primarily as a country artist, Jennings music is quite diverse. Covering an array of musical styles and topics from faith, life, love, and loss Jennings candid “heart on his sleeve” approach to his writing proves he’s not afraid of going outside the box and getting his hands dirty when it comes to sensitive and/or controversial issues. He currently tours the US both acoustically and with his band, and since 2002 he has performed over 700 shows in the US in venues ranging from the smaller honky tonk circuit, to massive fairs and festivals, and various live music venues coast to coast.
