The title track of Jeff Taylor's 2014 EP, 'Organelle,' originally emerged as a dream dialogue. In creating the music for the four song release, Taylor envisioned himself scrambling to fan the final dying embers of a foundering romantic relationship. The world which begat the doomed experiment is melting, all color and stories from their failed relationship running in anastomotic streams.
Producer Thomas Bartlett is featured on keyboard instruments throughout Organelle, along with a cadre of local musicians who are also Taylor's dear friends. The release is a limited pressing of 45RPM 10" vinyl - a high-quality digital version is also available here: http://jefftayloralive.bandcamp.com/
In addition to vocal songwriting, 2015 has been a year for the exploration of wordless music. Jeff's composition, "In The Jetstream," served as the score for 'Fu-Go,' a recent episode of WNYC's Radiolab. Furthermore, a quintet of New York City musicians are slated to perform 'MUSTERION' - a set of all-new, wordless Taylor originals - at NYC's Jazz Gallery on September 10th. Tickets for that event are on sale now.
The past few years have found Jeff Taylor on tour as support for Trixie Whitley and Kishi Bashi. In a departure from strictly musical performance, Taylor recently made his stage debut as Larry the Dwarf in the Los Angeles Philharmonic's production of Frank Zappa’s '200 Motels.' In 'Motels,' Taylor sang with the LA Phil for their 10th Anniversary Celebration of their home venue in Downtown LA, The Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Jeff was born and raised in New Jersey. He has resided in Brooklyn, NY since 2007.
