Joanna Hale-McGill has always had a true passion for her music. During the 2015 Essence Festival when everyone else was trying to decide which seminar they would attend or what performances they wanted to see, Joanna was submitting an audition video singing an acapella rendition of “Amazing Grace” with the hopes of being accepted to compete for The Next Gospel Superstar. On the last day of the 2015 Essence Festival, she humbly took the Walmart Stage and ministered the song, “Amazing Grace.” It wasn’t hard for Detrick Haddon, Tamela Mann and Phil Thorton to see the anointing of God and make their decision. She was amazed when David Mann announced her as the winner.
Joanna Hale-McGill has stepped through an “Open Door,” the title of her 1st single, and is using her gift to glorify God.
As part of the winnings for the Next Gospel Superstar Contest, Joanna was flown to Orlando, Florida where she recorded and performed her 1st single, “Open Door” written and produced by Detrick Haddon. During that time, she also recorded a new Top of The Hour Jingle for the Tom Joyner Morning Show. She even got to minister her new single “Open Door” as she opened for Yolanda Adams and Deitrick Haddon at the 2015 Tom Joyner Family Reunion. Joanna continues to minister in song around the City of New Orleans and other surrounding cities In 2016 Joanna was nominated for NOLA Gospel Award for Best New Artist of The Year. In September 2017, Joanna graced the stage of New Orleans House of Blues Sunday Morning Gospel Brunch where the crowd was in absolute amazement of her musical gift and talent. In 2018, Joanna was awarded the Artist of The Year by the Gulf Coast Gospel Music Awards. She was also casted in the 2018 gospel musical stage play entitled “Crowns” written by Regina Taylor, adopted from the book by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry. In April 2019, Joanna made her national television premier on ABC Family Marvel’s TV show “Cloak & Dagger. In December 2021, Joanna will premiered in the BET television series Sacrifice as a guest minister. In 2020 Joanna’s single entitled “I Can Do Anything” was considered for a Dove Award as the Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of The Year. Joanna is also being considered for the New Artist of The Year Dove Award recipient. In 2021 Joanna’s single entitled “Be Patient” was being considered for a Dove Award as the Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of The Year and Contemporary Artist of The Year.
In Fall 2018, Joanna complete her freshman album entitled, New Sound Same God Vol. 1. Her new single entitled, “I Can Do Anything reached #21 on the Billboard Gospel Indicator Charts. Her latest single entitled, “Be Patient” peeked at #5 on the Billboard Gospel Indicator Charts. He latest single entitled, Revelation 21:4 is sure to bless the nations and hit the top of the charts! She’s an award winning artist and is quickly becoming a sought after artist in the gospel music industry.
