Artist Bio
At age six, rock music was to change the life of Evan Hirsch forever. Babysitter Gretchen introduced him to bands like Kiss, AC/DC, UFO, Montrose, Rick Derringer, Van Halen, Foghat, Foreigner, Styx, Thin Lizzy, and Boston, who left their indelible mark on his rock and roll soul. From playing air guitar non-stop through age sixteen, when he finally got his first electric guitar, the chops were there, poised to burn up those sacred six strings. Age fourteen was when school chum Michael sold him his first four punk albums, including Seven Seconds, straight edge punk from Reno, Reagan Youth from NYC, L.A's Wasted Youth, and the Scottish band The Exploited rounding out some international exposure. Living in the SF Bay Area provided a rich playground for punk shows growing up, and RKL, plus local skaters The Faction were among his favorites. A sharp left turn was taken in '86 when club friend Sean introduced him to the Grateful Dead, which also led to the discovery of all psychedelic rock sounds, including the many greats from San Francisco like Santana, It's a Beautiful Day, Country Joe and the Fish, and Sons of Champlin. What you hear from Evan's fingers, by way of one of his rocking' electric guitars, are all the aforementioned influences. The heart of his more recent material is his unique brand of social commentary offering some fresh perspectives and some hope for the future of our human family. By recognizing realities and committing to our evolution, Evan believes the greatest chance for success comes with the opening of our minds, the expansion of our consciousness, and the constant examination and modification of what we are doing and why.
