Artist Bio
New Jersey born and bred Brandon Zemel is the definition of a “renaissance man” as far as the entertainment industry goes. Having been in numerous bands, starred in TV shows and commercials, and been on stage in several different musicals throughout his life, in addition to his short (and not-so-short) stories, he has been involved in some way in almost every facet of entertainment.
His musical interests range from smooth singer-songwriter backed by an elegant acoustic guitar, to the breakdowns and screaming that envelop modern post-hardcore, to the thumping bass of EDM, to the upbeat catchy melodies that can be heard on Top 40 radio stations, and beyond. Not only does he enjoy listening to all of those genres, he enjoys creating music within them as well, showcasing the many sides to him.
In addition to his music, Brandon has had the opportunity to showcase his acting abilities in different ways. On TV, he starred in the first season of the Disney Channel TV show “Out Of The Box”, and also made several appearances on the award-winning kids TV show “Sesame Street”, both on-screen and through voice-overs. He also starred in several TV commercials, including those for Kix Cereal and Carvel Ice Cream. He was also cast to star in a student short film entitled “Magic”. On stage, he performed in the ensemble of “A Christmas Carol” and was the lead plant operator in a production of “Little Shop Of Horrors”. Aside from TV and stage, he hosted the “Metal Messiah” radio show for four straight years on WJSV 90.5 FM in Morris County, NJ. Alongside co-hosts Eric Vita and Peter Shearer, the broadcast showcased music from bands across the metal spectrum, with an emphasis on hardcore, metalcore, power metal, and symphonic metal. The show also featured several recurring segments, including a spoof Public Service Announcement, interviews and in-studio acoustic performances from local bands, and The Weekly Rant, a group discussion of a current event and it's effects on the world. “Metal Messiah” was consistently considered one of the best-produced radio shows on the station.
But all of that was before. What's Brandon doing now? Currently his focus is on his solo material. He's in the studio recording his debut solo EP, “Skylines”, due for an early Spring release. He describes the music as “pop-influenced acoustic-based singer-songwriter with just a touch of country influence”, for fans of Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Mayday Parade, Secondhand Serenade, and Daughtry. He's fresh off his East Coast Skylines Tour, and tour plans are in the works for this Spring and Summer to support the album. He has also announced that he will be auditioning for the upcoming season of Fox's “The X Factor”.
Brandon also recently opened Greystone Studios, his own recording studio focused on producing and recording local bands with a local band-sized budget in mind. Brandon's talent for putting together a song and hearing little things that can make the track shine has never gone unnoticed, and after years of planning, he's finally putting that talent to work with Greystone Studios.
So what's next for Brandon? Aside from the upcoming release of the “Skylines” EP, he is currently writing his first musical, as well as working with bands and solo artists in his studio. The one thing that's for sure is that Brandon Zemel isn't going anywhere but up.
