7908 is more than just the altitude of Aspen. It's also a state of mind, where imagination is heightened, ideas run freely, and friendships are forged for a lifetime.
The Aspen Songwriters Festival takes Aspen's 60-year legacy as America's premiere artistic think-tank and introduces it to brilliant songwriters proven and new from across the nation: a breeding ground for the next generation of song, and a perfect incubator for creative collaboration.
A collaboration between Songwriting Hall of Fame member John Oates and Aspen's 1889-vintage Wheeler Opera House, the festival grew from a 2009 mini-series called "The Stories Behind The Songs," and a mutual love of creating the shortest distance between the songwriter's voice and the listener's ear.
Now that idea has been broadened and deepened, dedicated to capturing exactly what the artists heard and how they heard it, in an intimate experience unlike that of any other music festival out there.
The show proceeds benefit the Love Hope Strength Foundation, in their ongoing mission to build cancer centers and bone marrow donation registries worldwide, and the 7908 Foundation, supporting the future of the Aspen Songwriters Festival and its educational mission.
